Salon’s Fundraiser for Campbell Effort Tops $6,100

Jacqui's Design GroupAn Arlington salon raised more than $6,100 in one day to benefit the foundation for Krystle M. Campbell.

Jacqui’s Design Group, at 280 Broadway, pulled in the total for the victim of the Marathon bombings from a crush of customers as well as from a raffle held Sunday, May 5. The general amount was posted on the salon’s Facebook page.

The post says: “raffle time! thank you to all who came out today we reached our goal and more!!! $5.000+”

Owner Jacqui Chioccariello updated that number on Monday, May 6.

“We had a great turn out,” she wrote in an email. “We started around 10 in the morning and finished about 4.

“We raised $6,119! That included about $500 in raffles.

She said that about 70 people came for haircuts. Others came just to do the raffle and donate.

The response comes as another Arlington fund-raiser aims to support the foundation for Campbell, an Arlington resident who grew up in Medford and died April 15. A May 13 concert will be held at the Regent Theatre.

The Advocate reported last week that the salon held the fund-raiser because Campbell had been a regular customer over the past 18 months.

In recognition, all proceeds from haircuts May 5 will be donated to the Krystle M. Campbell Memorial Fund.
