Medford Native Part of Zoo New England Marathon Team

On May 11, Medford resident Laura Richter attended Zootopia 2013, Zoo New England’s creative black-tie gala held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Laura was a part of Zoo New England’s 2013 Boston Marathon team mentored under four-time Boston Marathon winner Bill Rodgers.

The ballroom was transformed into an unforgettable evening, which included a VIP cocktail reception, auctions, dancing, dinner and award presentations, including two awards presented to area youth. Proceeds from Zootopia 2013 will directly benefit Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo and will help to further the Zoos’ mission to inspire and educate the next generation of conservation stewards and leaders.

Laura, according to a spokesperson, was one of the thousands of runners stopped before the finish line this year for safety reasons.
