Two Great Local Fundraisers June 14th
|– Rick Giovino
In May, Raso’s Bar hosted the first annual “Falasca Run†to benefit the Heart Association and The Medford Invitational Tournament.
The Falasca Family had chosen to honor the life of Medford’s own Billy Falasca in a very special way as bikers will head to the Chop Shop in New Hampshire and back to Raso’s for a barbecue with live music and more.
Billy Falasca was an amazing man and this event was his family and friends way of honoring his memory by continuing Billy’s dedication to giving back to his community.
It was an incredible event, as I watched over two hundred and fifty motorcycles head up route 93 to honor our friend, Billy. Recently, friends and family of Billy Falasca presented the portion of the proceeds dedicate to the Medford Invitational Tournament to the MIT board of directors. The amount raised to support the Challenger Day event for children with mental and physical disabilities was $4,000.00. It was truly a sign that Billy is still here helping to raise money for this great cause.
The generosity of the Patti Falasca and her family and friends continues with another special fund raising event.
The Falasca Family has chosen the Medford Invitational Tournament to partner with on a very special fund raising event to honor the memory of Billy Falasca. Billy was a member of the Medford Invitational Tournament Board of directors when he passed away suddenly last year.
Billy was personally responsible for raising thousands of dollars to help Challenger Day be a success for these special athletes. His dedication to the Challenger kids will never be forgotten.
In his honor, the MIT and the Friends and Family of Billy Falasca are holding a comedy night with all proceeds to go to the MIT Challenger Day Event.
The date is June 14th at Montvale Plaza. The event will consist of comedy, great food, and loads of games and prizes.
Tickets have sold out but it is still not too late to help out to make this an incredible fund raising event for an incredible baseball game, in honor of an incredible friend.
We hope to see you all there!
And speaking of incredible Medford fundraisers…
Medford native Rick Giovino is only twenty-three-years-old, and he is a three-time testicular cancer survivor.
Giovino and friend Timmy Patterson, whose father passed away from cancer, are hosting a golf tournament in June, with all proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund.
The disease never did slow down Giovino, a talented golfer who competed in both high school and college. Giovino graduated in 2008 from Malden Catholic and recently graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, where he majored in Business Management and Marketing.
Ever the avid golfer and athlete, a battle with cancer was an unwelcome surprise for Giovino while he was in college.
Despite the terrible twist of fate, young Rick did not spend any time feeling sorry for himself. In turn, he battles with surgery after surgery to make it through this difficult time. But Rick didn’t stop the fight there. He was determined to help in some way to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The decision on what kind of fund raiser to have was an easy one for this golf star. Days after his most recent surgery, the kid was out there filling up foursomes and finding donations. So with his partner Mike Patterson and an army of family and friends, Rick get ready for his first ever event.
The first annual Mike Patterson “Don’t Ever Lay Up†invitational golf tournament is taking place on Friday, June 14 at Mount Hood Golf Course in Stoneham. For more information contact donteverylayup@gmail.com or mikepattersongolf@gmail.com.
I will be there and have the honor to play in the organizers foursome. I hope the kid doesn’t slow my game down!
It should be another amazing event! Do yourself a favor and join us for one of this great event which both coincidently are being held Friday, June 14th.
