The Medford Post 45 baseball team improved its record to 3-0 with back to back wins over Lowell and Reading this weekend.
On Saturday Medford defeated Lowell 2-0, which, according to Coach Ryan Kozul, has maybe only happened one other time in at least the past fifteen years.
“It’s a huge win for the program,” said Coach Kozul.
Dave Center (Medford High School) knocked in Tim Conroy (Arlington Catholic) on an RBI double with two outs to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Andrew (Medford High School) followed with a single up the middle to give his team the 2-0 lead.
John Lavoie (Medford High School) pitched the first six innings to earn the win. Lavoie surrendered only five hits and struck out five. Conroy earned the save in a scoreless seventh inning.
On Sunday Medford defeated Reading at home 9-3.
Conroy earned the win with eight K’s over five innings. Mark Fusco (Arlington Catholic) pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
Jake Porrazzo, Sean Doncaster, Andrew, and Dom Ramasci, all of Medford High School, and Conroy each contributed two hits. Center, Mike Pizzi (Medford High School) and Justin Alley (Medford High School) also had hits to round out the thirteen hit attack, said Kozul.
Medford is on the road at Reading on Monday; first pitch is at 6PM. The team is at Lowell on Thursday before returning home to face Malden at Playstead Park at 6PM on Friday.
