Nestor, Covelle to Participate in MA-CT All-Star Baseball Game
Medford High School varsity baseball coach Mike Nestor and Mustang baseball player Ryan Covelle will participate this weekend in the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association’s Annual Massachusetts-Connecticut New England Challenge Championship Seniors and Juniors All-Star Games.
Nestor is coaching the junior team and Covelle, an incoming senior, is on the junior roster as a pitcher.
The senior game will be played Saturday, June 22 at Huskins Field, 161 College Ave., Medford, on the campus of Tufts University. Game time is 11:00 AM on Saturday.
This game features many of the best high school seniors and juniors in Massachusetts, Eastern, Central and Western Mass. versus Connecticut’s top talent. A nine-inning game will be played on Saturday.
The Mass. State Senior All-Stars will be coached by legendary Reading HS coach Pete Moscariello, an MBCA Hall of Famer, former MBCA President and longtime board member who is stepping down at the end of this season after 35 baseball campaigns and 560 wins for the Rockets. Scott Martin of Stafford HS will skipper the Connecticut All-Stars.
The Mass. State Jenior All-Stars will be coached by MBCA board member and two-time State Championship Coach Dwayne Follette (Plymouth North) and Mike Nestor (Medford), who led the Mustangs to their best record in 20 years this season. Rich Magner of Xavier (Ct.) HS heads up the Connecticut squad.
