Special Election to Fill Senate Seat Tuesday
|A special election to fill former US Senator John Kerry’s open Senate seat is Tuesday, June 25.
Long-time Democratic Congressman Edward Markey and former Navy Seal Gabriel Gomez, a Republican, are vying for the seat.
Both Markey and Gomez are making stops in several local communities in the final days of the campaign to make pitches to voters. Markey is stopping in Medford on Sunday at 11AM, according to his public schedule. He will meet voters at 23 Forest Street and will also be joined by Vicki Kennedy and Medford resident and Attorney General Martha Coakley, among other VIP’s.
Polls will be open from 7AM to 8PM in Medford on Tuesday. The city website has a detailed list of polling locations.
Voters unsure of where to vote can simply enter their address at this site to find their poll.
Each of Medford’s schools, except for the high school, are used as polls. City Clerk Ed Finn said voters should be aware that heavy traffic will occur at schools between 7:30 and 8:30AM and 2:00 and 3:00PM. There is also limited parking at the schools. There is no parking in the school bus stop areas.
The Mystic Valley Area Branch of the NAACP is offering voters rides to the polls on Tuesday. Anyone interested should call 617-863-6726.
