Sciortino to Launch Congressional Campaign Wednesday

Following a victory by Congressman Ed Markey in the special Senate election, State Representative Carl Sciortino will officially launch his campaign for Congress on Wednesday.

Sciortino, a Medford Democrat, announced his interest in Markey’s Congressional seat in February. He has already raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to information released by Rep. Sciortino’s campaign, a press conference to officially kick off his candidacy is planned for noon time on Wednesday on the steps of the State House.

Rep. Sciortino was first elected to the State House in 2004 at the age of 25.

Other high profile politicians are interested in Markey’s seat, including current Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian.
