The Medford Post 45 baseball team remains in first place in its division following back to back wins on Saturday morning.
Medford defeated Reading, 4-1, and Billerica, 8-2, according to coach Ryan Kozul.
Chris Hayes (Medford High School) pitched a complete game three-hitter to earn the win over Reading. Tim Conroy (Arlington Catholic) had two RBI’s while Medford High School’s Dave Center and Kevin Andrew each added an RBI.
Conroy got the win on the mound against Billerica, pitching a complete game and fanning twelve. He also contributed an RBI and scored two runs.
It was Billerica that ended Medford High’s state tournament run this past season, so the win was almost like revenge given that the Legion squad is comprised of many of the same players, who were bolstered by talent from Arlington Catholic and Everett.
Sean Doncaster (MHS) got the game-tying double in the fourth and was followed by fellow Mustang Jake Porrazzo with the game-winning RBI in the fifth. Dave Center (MHS) added a double and two RBI’s while AC’s Mark Fusco chipped in with a run scored and Everett’s Shawn Doyle had two runs scored.
The Legion team is currently 7-2 heading into Tuesday’s home game against Chelmsford. First pitch is at 5:45PM.
