Post 45 Baseball Team 9-2 Heading into Playoff Game

The Medford Post 45 baseball team improved its record to 9-2 with a come-from-behind win over Chelmsford on Sunday.
Medford defeated Chelmsford 3-2 following a wild three run rally in the top of the seventh, said Coach Ryan Kozul.
“I can’t say enough about the attitude and toughness these guys have shown. Things looked bleak for a while, but they never gave in and fought to the last out like they have all season. It was just an awesome all-around team win,” said Coach Kozul.
Trailing 2-0 with one out and no one on, John Lavoie (Medford High School, pictured above) got things started with an infield single, followed by a single to right by Tim Conroy (Arlington Catholic). Lavoie then scored all the way from second base after an errant pickoff attempt to make the game 2-1. Dave Center (Medford High School) tied things up with his third hit of the night, an RBI double down the right field line. Sean Doncaster (Medford High School) followed with the game-winning double to the gap in right center to score Center.
Chelmsford threatened with a base runner in the bottom of the inning but a “beautiful” double play turned by Kyle Boudrias (Arlington Catholic) ended the game, said Kozul.
AC’s Tim Conroy picked up the win with another complete game effort, improving his record to 3-0.
Medford’s Monday night game at Tyngsboro was cancelled due to rain. The team faces 12-1 Sudbury on Tuesday night at Weston High School in the Zone 5 National Bound Playoff game. The winner of tomorrow’s game advances to Holy Cross on Thursday for the Massachusetts Elite Eight Tournament. The winner of the tournament at Holy Cross advances to the Northeast Regional in Connecticut in August.
The playoff game is a special mid-season tournament to determine which team from Massachusetts goes to the Northeast Regional, said Kozul.
Depending on the outcome of the game, Medford will either advance on its path to the regional game or look to qualify for the big double elimination state tourney at the end of the season.
First pitch Tuesday night is at 7PM.
