Sciortino Raises Over $200k in 2nd Quarter
|Fifth District Congressional candidate Carl Sciortino announced his campaign raised more than $200,000 in Primary Election funds this past quarter, for a total of $353,420 raised overall. The campaign also reported more than 1,500 total donors, a large sum which reflects Sciortino’s broad-based, grassroots appeal among Democrats.
“Carl Sciortino’s progressive leadership has earned him a huge grassroots following and gives him the clear advantage in this race,†said Sciortino’s campaign manager Matt Larson. “This election is a choice between candidates who call themselves ‘progressive’ when election-time rolls around and Carl Sciortino, the only candidate who has been consistently progressive on issues of equality, privacy, workers’ rights, immigration rights, women’s health, ending corporate welfare, and protecting the environment.â€
Carl Sciortino represents the 34th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House, which includes parts of Medford and Somerville. He is the author of the Buffer Zone Bill, The Transgender Equal Rights bill, and fought to close corporate tax loopholes, expand public transportation and increase the minimum wage in Massachusetts. A Tufts alumnus, he resides in Medford with his partner, Pem.
