City to Unveil ‘Over the Mystic’ Walking Route
|Signs like the one pictured above have popped up around the city. They serve as markers for a new walking route to be officially unveiled on August 15, according to the Medford Board of Health’s Syrah McGivern. On August 15 the Mayor will join group walking tours that leave from the Historical Society on Governors Avenue. The 1.7 mile route includes Governor’s Avenue, Lawrence Road, Lincoln Road, Crocker Road, Rural Avenue, Winthrop Street, and the Mystic River Path through the Condon Shell Park. More details are on the city website.

I’m confused by the artwork. Why are the people walking in the opposite direction from the arrow? Is the Mystic flooding on the right side? Why are the people walking under the Mystic when the sign says “Over the Mystic”? Is the adult hooked up to some sort of air supply line and simply pulling the child underwater? Or is the adult rescuing a drowning child?
