7th Annual Granara-Skerry Pancreatic Cancer Walk/Run Sept. 28
|The 7th Annual Pancreatic Cancer 5K Walk/Run hosted by the Granara-Skerry Trust will be held in Medford on Saturday, September 28th. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Massachusetts General Hospital for Pancreatic Cancer research. The Run/ Walk will start and end at the American Legion Hall on Winthrop Street. Registration will begin at 8:30AM and the Run will start at 10:00AM and the Walk immediately thereafter. The Road Race will be professionally timed by 5K Sports Management and the course is USA Track & Field certified. Results of the run are posted on Cool Running. Following the Walk/Run, awards will be made to the top three male and female finishers. Virtual Walkers and Runners are also invited to participate. Non Walkers/Runners are cordially welcomed to attend our Post Walk/Race celebration and participate in the raffles and silent auction that takes place immediately after the Walk/Run. Raffle and Silent Auction items will include signed sports memorabilia from Boston Bruins greats Bobby Orr and Zdeno Chara, Patriot Tickets, round trip airline tickets for two, overnight stays at local and Boston hotels, gift certificates for local and area restaurants, cash prizes and much, much more. Face painting and Mr. Balloon will be available for the children. Boston Bruins mascot Blades is scheduled to attend.
The annual 5K Walk was started by the late Kathleen Granara- Skerry, a Medford native who herself was a victim of pancreatic cancer. Since the inception of the Walk and the later added Run, over $600,000 has been raised, facilitated and donated for Pancreatic Cancer Research at MGH.
