|Caroling Record-Breaking Attempt, Road Race, City Hall Lighting Open to All
The 15th Annual Jingle Bell Festival is slated to begin on Saturday, November 30. This year’s celebration will kick off with the Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run 2013 in front of City Hall. Primary sponsor of the race is Lonergan Insurance and Real Estate. The Lonergan family business has been serving Medford and surrounding communities for 95 years. Join them in supporting Medford High and Medford Voc/Tech athletic teams and clubs by registering to run or be a sponsor. Go to www.facebook.com/JingleBellWalkRun for more information.
Pre-registration on line at Active.com is $20 for adults and $15 for those under 18 years of age. Day of the race registration at Medford Senior Center, 99 Riverside Avenue, Medford is $25. The Medford Jingle Bell Walk/Run is free to entrants under 10 years of age. Pre-registration is also open at Lonergan Insurance and Real Estate at High Street in Medford Square.
Following the race Medford will again attempt to set a Guinness World Record. Gather your family and friends to kick start the holidays by singing Jingle Bells while wearing a Santa hat. Medford broke the record with over 3000 people singing in 2004. With your support, we can do better in 2013. Guinness officials demand pre-registration which can be done at Lonergan Insurance and Real Estate, 74 High Street. A one dollar fee is required for your official Santa hat or you may bring your own. Only individuals wearing Santa hats will be counted by Guinness officials. Be part of the fun on Saturday, November 30 at 5 pm.
The official City of Medford tree lighting will immediately follow the singing. Everyone is invited to City Hall to view and take chances on the trees and other decorations. Come out and join your community for an afternoon of celebration.
