Medford, Malden Break Bread Before Big Game

Before Medford and Malden compete in their 126th Thanksgiving football game the two teams met for a special pre-game lunch hosted by John Brewer’s Tavern on Tuesday.

The restaurant, owned by Medford resident and Medford High School graduate Bill Honeycutt, has invited the teams for a joint lunch since 2008. John Brewer’s, located in Malden, is home to a mural commemorating Medford and Maldens’ historic rivalry.

The two schools’ football coaches, seniors and captains, principals, and athletic directors attended the lunch on Tuesday, as well as Malden Mayor Gary Christensen.

Medford’s captains are Reggie Thelemaque, Malik McLaren, Tyler McLean, and Jesse Ribeiro. Malden’s captains are Jensen Ayuk, Raymond Sainristil, and Matt Delaney. They are all pictured below with the Thanksgiving trophy.

Medford is coached by Jason Nascimento and Malden’s Head Coach is Joe Pappagallo.

Medford hosts Malden this year at 10:00AM at Hormel Stadium.
