Girls Track Team Defeats Everett

The Medford High School girls indoor track team took top honors in nine out of ten events en route to a 55-31 victory at Everett on Monday.
Junior Patricia Healion was outstanding for the Lady Mustangs, winning both the 55 yard hurdles (9 seconds) and the high jump (4’8?), said Coach Jack Dempsey. Other first place finishers include senior captain Cassie Greene (1000 yard, 3:33), Daria Eshelman (2 mile run, 16:01), Bailey Flynn (300 yard, 44.3), Arianna Buelto (600 yard, 1:45), Kali Umlah (shot put, 25’10?) and Sara Volmar (50 yard dash, 6.6).
The Medford foursome of Greene, Flynn, Buelto and freshman Amber Harbison won the 4 by 400 meter relay with a time of 4:45. Senior Jessica Baccari placed second in the shot put with a throw of 25’6?, junior Megan Fung placed second in the 1 mile (7:28), and Umlah finished second in the hurdles (9.4).
The Lady Mustangs will compete in the Greater Boston League championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston.
