Legion Baseball Team Shuts Out Lowell

The Medford Post 45 baseball team won what turned out to be a pitcher’s duel against Lowell on Thursday.
Medford beat Lowell 1-0 on a complete game, two hit shutout by Ryan Covelle, said Coach Ryan Kozul.
The home team broke the stale mate in the bottom of the fourth. Brendan Greene (Winchester) and Kyle Boudrias (Arlington Catholic) had back to back singles that put runners at the corners with one out. Dave Center followed with what proved to be the game-winning sac fly.
Greene, 2-3 with a run scored, “played tremendous defense at shortstop,” said Kozul.
Lowell’s starter, Brock Riley, is a fellow Franklin Pierce recruit with Covelle. He was also outstanding, allowing only four hits with ten strikeouts.
Medford, 3-2, is on the road against Natick on Saturday. The team returns home on Wednesday for a 5:45 game with Sudbury.
