Local Artist Displays Work at Mystic Coffee Roaster

Watercolors by local artist Constance Festo Lafond are on display at Medford Square’s Mystic Coffee Roaster through October 16.

Lafond is largely a self-taught artist who fell in love with the medium of watercolor early on.

“My influences as an Impressionist painter are Matisse, Gustav Klimt, and Singer Sargent. I have always seen artistic compositions in the way objects relate to each other and my work expresses a strong sense of negative space.”

The figure, always a favorite subject of Lafond’s, is the focus of the show at the Mystic Coffee Roaster.

Lafond also has landscapes and florals on display at the Beebe Memorial Library in Wakefield in the new Blake Seating area on the first floor. The artist will be at the library on September 21st from 1pm – 4pm to discuss the work and the paintings will be on display there until September 24th.
