Finders Keepers! ‘Abandoned’ Art in Medford
|If you happen upon a piece of art in Medford that someone seems to have accidentally left behind, it was “abandoned†intentionally, for you to find and keep!
The artists of MACI (Medford Arts Center, Inc.) are kicking off their Art Abandonment Project as part of October’s Arts Across Medford. They want to share the wonder of creating art with the community, and help to change our community, one art treasure at a time.
The Art Abandonment Project brings art out into the community, making it fun for people to look for and discover art of all kinds, all over Medford. Artists will leave dozens of works of art in public places such as businesses, park benches, restaurants: you never know where one will pop up! The art will be in sealed clear plastic bags, marked with the MACI logo and a card identifying the artist. Whoever finds a piece is invited to take it home or pass it on to someone else who would like to keep it, and to post a photo of the art on MACI’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/MedfordArtsCenterIncmaci, saying where it was found.
Art Abandonment is part of CACHE’s Arts Across Medford month. Get the complete schedule of all events at http://cacheinmedford.org/programs/arts_across_medford/.
