AC Girls Cross Country Team Remains Undefeated

The Arlington Catholic Girls Cross Country team continued their winning ways by defeating Bishop Fenwick (27 to 29) and Lowell Catholic (15 to 45) at Fenwick’s 3 mile home course on Tuesday.
The Lady Cougars improved their record to 6-0 and are two wins away from completing their sixth consecutive undefeated season in the Catholic Central League, according to Head Coach Jack Dempsey.
Sophomores Veronica Seguin (Bedford, 20:40) and Lesha Kay (Melrose, 20:52) finished in second and third place, followed by senior captain Kathleen McLaughlin (Waltham, 21:06) in fourth place. Junior captain Olivia Bowman (Melrose, 22:26) finished in seventh place, freshmen Lauren Anthony (Medford, 23:19) placed eleventh, and Bella Rich (Medford, 25:00) was thirteenth. Kara Fahey (Melrose) rounded out the top seven harriers for AC, finishing fourteenth with a time of 25:05.
The AC boys lost a pair of close races to Bishop Fenwick (27-29) and Lowell Catholic (26-30), and now stand at 2-4.
Sophomore Kevin Hickey (Arlington) was the overall winner with a time of eighteen minutes, followed by freshman Shawn Brown (fourth) with a time of 19:24. Sophomore James Cordero (Woburn, 19:59) placed 6th, freshman Brian Morgan (Medford, 21:34) was twelfth, and Junior Paul Reiss (24:15) finished fifteenth.
The Cougars’ next meet is at Austin Prep on Wednesday, October 15th.
