School Closed Due to Forecast of Extreme Cold

The Medford Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 8 due to the severe cold expected.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values on Thursday could be as much as twenty degrees below zero. School Superintendent Belson said the weather was not safe for children to wait at bus stops and risk getting frostbite or other conditions from the extreme cold.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for the area until 11AM Thursday.

According to a school closing list from CBS4, public schools in Everett, Malden, and Revere are also closed.
