Girls Track Team Defeats Everett

The Medford High School girls indoor track team defeated Everett 58-28 on their home track on Wednesday to even their record to 2-2.
The Lady Mustangs were led by the “stellar performances of the senior athletes,” said Coach Jack Dempsey.
Senior captain Tricia Healion took top honors in the High Jump (4’8″) and 55M Hurdles (10.3 seconds, a season best). Healion also was the third leg of the winning 4x400M relay team. Captain Arianna Buelto placed first in the 600M (1:55) and anchored the victorious relay team. Kali Umlah won the 55M dash (7.6 seconds) and the shot put (28’4.5″). Mary Donnelly nabbed first in the 1000M (4:05) and was also part of the winning relay team. Bailey Flynn, another member of the relay team, took second in the 300M (46 seconds). Other scoring Lady Mustang seniors included Daria Eshelman, second in the two mile run (15:21), Damari Grossi, third in the shot put with a 23’4″ toss, and Julia Mitrano, second in the 55M hurdles (10.7).
Freshman Francesca Viggiani won the one mile run in 7:07 while Jill McCarthy finished third in 7:27. Several other runners earned some points for the home team, including freshman Jasmine Dimaculangan in the 300M, freshman Gemma Pennucci in the 600M, and junior Kenzie Madigan in the 1000M.
Medford hosts Chelsea on Thursday, January 22.
