RE/MAX Realtor Sarno Named Realtor of the Year

Medford resident Andrew Sarno, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Andrew Realty Services of Medford and Stoneham, was named the 2014 Massachusetts’ “REALTOR® of the Year” by the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR). This prestigious honor was bestowed upon Sarno at MAR’s Annual Professional Awards Reception, which was held at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth.

The state’s “REALTOR® of the Year” is selected annually from among the nominees of the 15 local associations of REALTORS® and more than 20,000 REALTORS® in Massachusetts. Judging for the award is based on business accomplishments, service to the local community and service to the REALTOR® organization on the local, state and national levels. In June 2014, Sarno was named the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS®’ (GBAR) “REALTOR® of the Year”, which placed him in the running for this distinguished state award.

Sarno said winning both awards was a distinct honor and one of the highlights of his career.

An accomplished REALTOR® with RE/MAX Andrew Realty Services since 2005, Sarno practices both residential and commercial real estate. He has earned the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified Buyer Representative (CBR), Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Loss Mitigation Certification (LMC), and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designations.

An active, well known member of the state and regional real estate community, Sarno has been a member of the REALTOR® organization’s Greater Boston leadership for a number of years and as such, has chaired and served on a variety of committees. In 2014, Sarno served as the Association’s Treasurer, a Director and member of the Finance Committee for the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB), and served a second consecutive year as Chairman of the GBAR Professional Standards Committee. Most recently, he was installed as the 2015 President-Elect of the Association.

On the state level, Sarno serves as a Director on the Board of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®, a role he has assumed since 2009. Additionally, Sarno was the 2014 Chairman of the MAR Technology Committee. Previously, he served a two year term as Chairman of the Member Benefits Committee (2011-2013), during which time he played a key role in identifying and selecting a new vendor for the Association’s electronic
forms platform. Sarno has also served on MAR’s Professional Standards Committee for the past six years, the Member Recruitment & Retention Subcommittee for the past three years, and the Structural Audit Committee for the past two years.

At the national level, Sarno is a NAR-certified Mediator and serves on the NAR Membership Policy & Board Jurisdiction Committee.

Over the years, Sarno has received awards for his outstanding real estate contributions, including GBAR’s REALTOR® Spirit Award in 2012. He has also earned regional recognition for his real estate production achievements within the RE/MAX Franchise and the ERA Real Estate Franchise System with whom his company was previously affiliated until 2012.

A lifelong resident of Medford, Sarno resides in the city with his wife Caren and two children.
