For the ninth time in the last 11 years, the WPI men’s basketball program will be participating in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Engineers nabbed a coveted Pool C bid into the 62-team tournament and begin play Friday in a first round contest against host St. John Fisher at time to be announced.
WPI is 21-5 on the season and ranked 12th in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25. The Engineers finished second in the competitive NEWMAC, which received three bids to the tournament, before falling to Springfield Saturday in the conference tournament semifinals. The 2015 tournament will mark the tenth time WPI has reached the NCAA Tournament, with all nine coming in the last 11 seasons under head coach Chris Bartley.
Game times and ticket information for this weekend’s first and second round games will be announced shortly. The WPI-St. John Fisher winner will take on the Amherst-Sage winner Saturday evening at 7pm.
