Chamber to Host Freedom 5K & Health Expo
Shake off the winter blues and hit the pavement! Register for FREEDOM 5K to be held in Medford, MA on Sunday, April 12, 2015. FREEDOM 5K is a chip-timed, 5k race/walk starting promptly at 10am at The Medford Chamber of Commerce annual Health and Wellness expo at the McGlynn Middle School, 3002 Mystic Valley Parkway, Medford, MA.
The course will proceed down “Freedom Way†take a left onto Riverside Avenue, a right onto George P. Hassett Drive, a left onto Salem Street into Medford Sq, a right onto Forest Street, a left onto Lawrence Road, a left onto Governors Avenue, a left onto High Street proceed directly through Medford Square down Riverside Avenue with a right onto “Freedom Way†finishing back at the McGlynn Middle School. $100 cash prize to top male and female. Age Group medals will be awarded and every child under 13 will receive a super star medal as they cross the finish line. Every registrant will receive a long sleeve tech shirt and swag bag.
The expo will be open from 8am-12pm. Music provided by Nuimage Entertainment. Pre-race registration and packet pickup is 8am-9:30am. Stretch it out and become one with your spirit as you join Borealis Yoga and Emilie Amstutz at 9am for a free yoga class. Shake it up with “Zumba with Nancy Palladino†at the pre-race warmup at 9:45am or jump into her free Zumba class at 10:30am. Local businesses featuring services in the physical, financial, occupational, recreational and environmental wellness industries will be featured at the expo. Boston Beer Company featuring Sam Adams is sponsoring the after party at Carroll’s Restaurant, 21 Main Street, Medford Square. Carroll’s will also be serving a brunch for $10 per person. Lisa’s Pizza at 283 Boston Avenue, Medford is hosting a “buy one, get one free†after party for all participants. At 5:30 come to Borealis Community Yoga, 34 Salem Street, 2nd floor, Medford for a free Yoga class. Just show your runner/walker bib at either establishment.
