AC Cross Country Team Opens Season With Win

Both the boys and girls Arlington Catholic cross country teams earned home wins against Austin Prep and St. Joseph Prep on Tuesday, September 15.
The girls defeated AP 21-40 and St. Joe’s 15-50 (low score wins). AC junior Alexandra Kay (Melrose) was second overall, with a time of 21:46 on the hilly 3.1 mile Menotomy Rocks course. Other top AC finishers were freshman Chloe Stubblebine (3rd place, Lincoln), senior Olivia Bowman (4th, Melrose), sophomore Lauryn Anthony (5th, Medford), and junior Karmen Lu (7th, Malden). Sophomore Bella Rich (8th, Medford) and freshman Ashley Capobianco (9th, Burlington) rounded out the top 7 for the AC girls, who are undefeated in 46 consecutive dual meets dating back to 2009.
The boys defeated AP 25-33 and St. Joe’s 15-50. Junior Kevin Hickey (2nd, Arlington) was only one second behind the overall winner. Other top finishers for the Cougars were sophomore Shawn Brown (4th, Burlington), sophomore Andrew Doyle (5th, Medford), senior Mike Venditti (6th, Lexington), and sophomore James Cordero (8th, Woburn). Freshman Aidan Kay (9th, Melrose) and sophomore Brian Morgan (10th, Medford) rounded out the top 7 for the AC boys.
