Medford City Hall Hosts Photography Exhibit Highlighting Family Homelessness

From October 5 – 27, 2015, Malden-based social service agency Housing Families Inc. presents a photography exhibition, photographed by Meg Landers Photography, at Medford City Hall sharing the stories of families experiencing homelessness and breaking down stigmas and assumptions about homelessness.

The idea for the exhibit came from Housing Families’ Family Advocacy Program: families expressed a desire to create a bridge between families experiencing homelessness and their communities. The group embarked on a mission to inform the public about the pervasiveness of family homelessness across the Commonwealth and to work to breakdown stigmas attached to homelessness. The stories in the exhibit underscore the numerous paths that can lead to homelessness, and also emphasize that perseverance and survival, coupled with supportive services, can go a long way to help a family achieve housing stability and economic mobility.
