The Arlington Catholic cross country team wrapped up the regular season with a tri-meet against Lowell Catholic and Bishop Fenwick last week.
The AC girls cross country team defeated Lowell Catholic 18-44 but lost to Bishop Fenwick 27-30 to finish the regular season with a record of 7-1. Before the loss to Fenwick, the AC girls had won 50 consecutive dual meets, with the last loss coming to Arlington High in a non-league match-up in 2009. The loss also ended a 53 meet winning streak for the AC girls in the Catholic Central League; a streak that dates back to the end of the 2008 season. The AC girls were led by junior Alexandra Kay (Melrose), who finished second overall with a time of 20 minutes for the 3.1 mile course. Freshman Chloe Stubblebine (Lincoln) was 4th overall in a time of 21:19. Senior captain Olivia Bowman (Melrose), junior Karmen Lu (Malden), and freshman Ashley Capobianco (Burlington) also ran well for AC.
The AC boys also finished 7-1 for the regular season after wins over both Lowell Catholic and Bishop Fenwick. Junior Kevin Hickey (Arlington) was second overall in 17:46, while sophomore Andrew Doyle (Medford) was third overall (18:05), with senior Mike Venditti (Lexington) fifth overall, sophomore Shawn Brown (Burlington) sixth, and junior James Cordero (Woburn) seventh.
