Mustang Boys Soccer Team Advances in State Tourney

The Mustang boys varsity soccer team advanced to the quarter final round of the state tournament after a 3-2 home victory over Acton-Boxboro on Thursday.
Medford’s win came after two overtime periods and eight rounds of penalty kicks. A-B tied the game 2-2 with just four minutes left. After the goalie’s final save the crowd rushed the field in celebration.
Medford will face Malden in the quarter finals. Malden defeated Andover 6-3. Malden was 14-2-2 and the third seed heading into the state tournament while Medford was 12-2-4 and was seeded sixth. The game will take place in Malden on November 9. Further details haven’t been released yet.
The winner will advance to the semi-final round of the state tournament.
The Lady Mustang soccer team lost to Methuen 5-0 on Thursday in the first round of the state tournament.
