Medford Children’s Art Showcase Feb. 8-26
The seventh annual Medford Children’s Art Showcase is taking place February 8 to February 26 at Preotle, Lane & Associates, 200 River’s Edge Drive.
This is a citywide exhibit of work by students in the Medford Public Schools. This collaborative and inclusive public exhibit celebrates the creativity and skill of our kids and art educators. Artwork by elementary and middle school school students offer a unique snapshot of the continuum of art learning.
This exhibit has grown from 32 participants in 2009 to more than 400 participants. The kids are excited that their work will be displayed outside of the school environment. This exhibit displays the richness of arts education in the Medford Public Schools. Hosted for the first time by Preotle, Lane & Associates at River’s Edge in Medford, the exhibit celebrates Medford’s talented students and art educators every year.
The Medford Children’s Art Showcase is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. We also receive supplies every year from generous donations through the wonderful Blick Art Room Aid program. The exhibit is coordinated by local volunteers.
The showcase is free and open to the public during regular building hours, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. An after-hours celebration will be held Thursday, February 18, 5:30-7:30 pm. Local artists will donate quick portrait sketches and talented MHS student Fatima Lemos will give a short vocal performance. Parking is free.
