Medford, Winchester Special Education Departments Partner for Transition Fair
|The Medford Public Schools and Winchester Public Schools Offices of Special Education have come together and organized the Annual Transition Fair designed for students 14 years of age and older with disabilities to help plan for life after high school. The Transition Fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Winchester High School’s Library, 80 Skillings Road, in Winchester, Massachusetts. Parents, Guardians and students are encouraged to attend this FREE event to learn about community-based services available for adults with disabilities, including, but not limited to, Autism, Developmental Disabilities, and Intellectual Disabilities.
More than (20) exhibitors will be attending, including: the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, the Department of Developmental Services, Middlesex Community College’s Transition Program, Eastern Middlesex ARC, NorthEast ARC, Outside the Lines Art Program and many more. These exhibitors will include information regarding support for independent living skills, vocational training, adapted educational programs, recreational opportunities and supported housing.
New this year are the following informational sessions:
6:15 PM – Guardianship
6:30 PM – Self-Determination
7:00 PM – Employment First
This informative fair is an important resource for young adults with disabilities and their families who will be leaving high school.
