Lady Mustang Softball Team Off to Strong Start

The Medford High School Girls Softball team improved their record to 5-1 with recent victories over Somerville (15-2) and Lowell (a 5-3 come-from-behind win).
Senior captain Ashley Eisnor pitched a strong 3-hitter while striking out thirteen against the Somerville squad. Eisnor also collected four hits and five RBIs. Sophomore Halle Farrell (single, double, triple and four RBIs), senior Jocelyn McCarthy (four hits and two runs), and senior captain Renee Staude (three hits and three RBIs) led the Mustangs’ offense. Mackenzie Eisnor had two hits, Kayla Dell’anno had a hit and three runs, Katrina Raschi contributed a double and three RBIs, and Dana Williams chipped in with a single and two runs scored, according to Coach Jack Dempsey.
Eisnor’s solid pitching against Lowell and a two run double in the bottom of the sixth put Medford ahead 5-3. Senior captain Gigi Braga also had a big day, contributing two hits, two stolen bases and a run scored. Farell and junior KerriAnn Loutraris added a double and RBI while freshman Mya Winslow contributed a hard-hit double.
Medford’s next game is on the road in Malden on Wednesday at 4 PM.
