Medford Resident Honored by Mass General Cancer Center
|Each year the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center salutes individuals, groups and organizations from across the country and around the globe during the one hundred, an annual event celebrating those who are making a difference in the fight against cancer in inspiring and often revolutionary ways.
Medford resident Allie Morse is among the one hundred 2016 honorees who will be recognized in Boston at this signature event on Tuesday, May 24th. She was chosen from a list of nearly 700 nominees.
Morse uses social media to enlighten her peers about the incidence of cancer among young adults. At 28, she is approaching five years in remission from stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her blog, “The Good Hodgkin’s,†not only raises awareness about the 72,000 young adults between the ages of 15 and 39 who receive cancer diagnoses every year, but also explores issues unique to young cancer survivors.
Last year, Allie shared her experiences with 700 young people at an American Cancer Society “Relay for Life†event.
“Allie’s efforts are in keeping with the Cancer Center’s commitment to eradicating cancer through research and innovation and by providing the highest quality of patient care,” said a statement on behalf of the Cancer Center.
