Medford Cellist to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Medford High School junior Ivy Eliopoulos will perform at Carnegie Hall along with his fellow Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
The orchestra is performing at the famed New York venue on June 6 and 7. Music by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky are part of their song line-up.
Eliopoulos was invited to join the highly selective youth orchestra in the fall. He has been playing the cello since the fifth grade and credits Medford Public Schools music teachers Ms. Chang and Mr. Szykniej for “helping Medford kids cultivate their talent.â€
Eliopoulos and the orchestra performed several times at Boston’s Symphony Hall last fall and winter. The orchestra is free to the student musicians who are accepted and is supported by private donors. The student musicians also receiving mentoring and assistance from members of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.
