‘Mystic Makerspace’ Grand Opening June 4th
Join our Open House this weekend and learn all about the classes planned for summer. We will also be looking for suggestions for other classes including people who can teach them. While the we hope to one day have a dedicated space, we are currently hosting events in the Library’s Magoun Room during pre-scheduled times. All ages are welcome to our open house, but the classes offered will be mainly geared towards ages 12 and up.
We believe learning to make empowers individuals and strengthens community. The Mystic Makerspace is a collective source of tools, space, education, and materials made available to all. We provide equal opportunity access to a safe and welcoming environment where community members can learn to create and repair by sharing skills, knowledge and tools.
At the Mystic Makerspace, we dream big, imagine immensely, experiment rashly, discover boldly, and even *fail* safely. You can write code, knit sweaters, master mosaics, and make friends. What you make is up to you. We share ideas about creating and building. We pool our resources, talent and tools. And we learn from each other in a friendly, supportive environment.
We are a project of the Medford Arts Center, Inc, a registered 501(c)3 organization, and our programs are made possible thanks to a grant by the Medford Arts Council, and an amazing donation made by the family of Betty Sue Clark. The Mystic Makerspace is currently located at the Medford Public Library.
OPEN HOUSE & SUMMER CLASSES
We invite everyone to join us at our classes and events, kicking off on Saturday, June 4 at the Mystic Makers Open House from 12-4 at the Medford Public Library. We will have tables set up with a variety of community experts showcasing activities to be taught and tried out in this new Maker initiative. Sewing, Mosaics, Robotics, Crochet, Upcycled Crafts, a kids’ table, and live demos on the hour, and more! Come on down and try something new or brush up on your skills.
