Fire Breaks Out at Chinese Restaurant- Updated

A fire broke out late Tuesday afternoon at Mei Ling’s Chinese restaurant, according to witnesses. The restaurant is located at 434 Salem Street, near the top of Spring Street. Traffic was diverted at Grant Avenue and at Salem Street and the Fellsway during the emergency response. According to a Facebook post by Medford Firefighters Local 1032, the incident was a kitchen fire that was quickly extinguished by firefighters. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation. Mei Ling’s says they are closed until further notice because they have to do some renovations following yesterday’s small fire in the chimney. They apologize for the inconvenience to their customers.
