Mayor Burke to Hold Economic Development Community Meetings

In February and March of 2016, the Business and Economic Development Transition Team conducted community meetings in Medford’s five key business districts, and engaged over 250 participants who contributed ideas about desired changes, upgrades, and initiatives in these specific regions. The extensive, published report, entitled “Shaping Medford: Community Conversations to Guide Our Economic Future,” breaks down suggested improvements by individual business square, summarizes previous studies, and makes suggestions for ways the City of Medford can better support economic development.

As a follow-up to this report, Mayor Stephanie M. Burke and members of the Business and Economic Development Transition Team will return to the squares to provide a customized report on the individual square as well as other important economic development initiatives currently in progress.

Four meetings will take place throughout the city in Medford Hillside, South Medford, Haines Square, and West Medford. The Medford Square portion of the report served as a launching pad for the Metropolitan Area Planning Council meeting earlier this month, so there will not be a Medford Square meeting at this time. The meetings will take place at the following locations:

Medford Hillside: Thursday, September 29 at 574 Boston Avenue, Room 401

South Medford: Wednesday, October 5 at the South Medford Fire Station community room, Zero Medford Street

Haines Square: Wednesday, October 12 at Roberts Elementary School, 35 Court Street

West Medford: Wednesday, October 26 at Brooks Elementary School, 388 High Street

All meetings will take place from 6:00-7:30 pm and are open to the public. For more information, contact the Office of the Mayor at 781-393-2408. The full report can be found at www.medfordma.org/mayor/transition-team.
