Relay for Life Hosting Pancake Party for All Volunteers
|– Janelle Myers
I walked in my first Relay For Life for my grandparents, diagnosed within 2 years of each other with breast cancer and leukemia. Ten years later, I joined the event in a different capacity: as a survivor. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in high school, I struggled to find cancer groups that felt like the right fit for me, but at Relay I donned my purple shirt with pride. Relay For Life is a team-based, walk-a-thon style fundraiser that brings together survivors, caregivers, and the whole community to fight our common enemy of cancer and to celebrate the wins we’ve seen both as individuals and as a country.
My role in the event has changed again, and now I’m on the leadership team for the Relay for Life of Medford/Somerville. Our event in June 2017 marks the tenth year of this event, and we’re building a team of volunteers to make it the best yet. We’re looking for people to join us in all sorts of ways, from helping for a few hours at an event to joining the event leadership team. Whatever your talents and however much time you have, we’d love to have you on our team!
We’re hosting a new and returning volunteer meetup PANCAKE PARTY at the Medford Library on Saturday, November 19, 9:30 to 11:00 am to meet people who are interested! Come hang out with us, eat some pancakes, and learn more about the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. Relay unites more than four million participants in 6,000 communities around the world, and we want you to become a part of it.
