Medford Before Now: A New Look at Medford’s Neighborhoods With Dee Morris
7:00PM, Medford Public Library, 111 High Street, Medford
This lecture is based on Dee Morris’s new book Medford: A Brief History, a conversational narrative about the neighborhoods that evolved in our city. Geography often determined the use of land, like the level plains of south Medford which gave rise to spectacular race tracks. Besides the famous Brooks, Magoun and Lawrence families, Medford was also home to Clarence Twombly, nationally famous pigeon fancier, and George W. Broome, first African American to produce a record label. Join local favorite Dee Morris for a look at how Medford grew. Presented by the Friends of the Medford Public Library and the Medford Historical Society.

Mr. Rapaport is a well-known historian, researcher, and lecturer who specializes in early New England history. She is the author of The Naked Quaker” in which “Quakers and other forgotten Americans—feisty, unruly and surprisingly irreverent—come to life in court cases from colonial New England.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for our Shop and the archaeological exhibit.
