|Everett Casino Plan Approved
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved a Wynn Resorts plan to develop a casino in Everett on contaminated land on the banks of the Mystic River; Medford has already received $200,000 from a surrounding communities agreement.
Medford Prepares to Launch New Parking Program in 2015
The city signed an agreement with Republic Parking System to manage a new parking enforcement program that includes solar-powered meters in business districts, a new fee structure for business, residential, and commuter permits, and an online hub, www.parkmedford.org.
McGlynn Teacher Honored With National Award
McGlynn Elementary School teacher Anthony Petrelis was surprised in October with the prestigious Milken Educator Award, which recognizes exemplary teachers and provides a $25,000 award.

In May the city broke ground on a new DPW facility that will bear the name of former Mayor Alfred Pompeo, Sr.; the former complex, which was partially condemned and later demolished, was built in 1937 as a WPA project.
